Hew Locke | The Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art

Hales, London New York is delighted to announce the inclusion of works by Hew Locke in the Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art. The Triennial is open to the public from 25th August - coinciding with the G20 summit in the city - to 25th October. 

 

Hangzhou is a modern Chinese city on the Silk Route, rich with its prolonged traditions in culture, leisure and silk production.  The exhibitions combine relevant social aspects, such as local regions and industries. They include four sections of curators' research and artists' works, echoing the theme from various dimensions, and across several prestigious venues.

 

Locke will be involved in two free artist's talks during the festival. The first takes place at the Zhejiang Art Museum, Hangzhou on the 27th September 15:30 - 17:30 regarding "Textile Thinking"; Hew Locke will be making a presentation of his works that use fibre, followed by a panel discussion. Hosted by Sun Zhenhua (theorist, curator), with artists Hu Xiaoyuan and Kimsooja also presenting, and Janis Jeffries(writer,educator and curator)and Cao Dan (Publisher of LEAP and TANC). The second is an artist Q&A behind held at the meeting room, Xiangshan Campus of China Academy of Art at 17:00 on the 28th September 2016.
