Carolee Schneemann at The Artist's Institute | Part Two and a James Tenney Concert

Hales Gallery is pleased to announce the second part of a season dedicated to Carolee Schneemann at The Artist's Institute in New York, beginning with a James Tenney concert.

The second of five parts in a six-month season of exhibitions, lectures, symposiums and events at The Artist's Institute is centred on Schneemann's work ABC—We Print Anything—In The Cards (1976), composed of 314 colour-coded notecards transferred to 35mm slides, documenting Carolee Schneemann's ('C') relationships with two men, 'A' and 'B'. The first event in the second part of the programme is  "A James Tenney Concert: the Postal Pieces and Other Selected Works". Composer James Tenney (1934-2006) was Schneemann's romantic and creative partner during the first decade of her career. A lecture to be given by art historian and critic Branden W. Joseph,  “Unclear Tendencies: Carolee Schneemann’s Image Troubles”, is also scheduled.
