This is how we are going to change the world. I should be in charge:

 

 

In conjunction with their solo show, This is how we are going to change the world. I should be in charge. at Hales Gallery. Bob and Roberta Smith are asking YOU to help them CHANGE THE WORLD.



Using pen and paper, the postal system and Facebook, they are inviting people to help them write a series of letters to leading politicians over four Saturdays in March. Each Saturday they will focus on a different politician, asking them to comment on relevant issues.

People are also invited to decorate their letters, turning them into drawings or posters.

All sessions will commence at 1pm at Hales Gallery, pens and paper will be provided and all letters will be collected at the end of the day and sent to the intended recipient the following Monday.

 

 

----Saturday 6th March 2010----

Bob and Roberta Smith invite visitors to write to Ed Vaizey, Conservative Culture spokesman, asking “why anyone involved in the arts would vote Conservative, when the Conservatives have talked about making dramatic cuts to the Arts Council’s budget?”

Also on the agenda will be a letter to Ken Livingstone and Tony Benn asking “why anyone would vote Labour after the Iraq War and after 12 years of a Labour Government that maintained Margaret Thatcher's deregulated financial markets?”

Lastly we will write to Nick Clegg asking “who he is?”

Bob and Roberta Smith invite visitors to write to Boris Johnson, London’s Mayor, to “Bring Back London's Tram network” as a response to global warming, pollution and congestion.

 

 

----Saturday 20th March 2010----

Bob and Roberta Smith invite visitors to write to Munira Mirza, the Mayor's Cultural Adviser, asking “why when the BNP are gaining a foothold in London, has she and the Mayor cut London’s Anti Racism Festival, 'RISE' and funding for other music festivals just at a time when they are needed more than ever?”

Bob and Roberta Smith invite you to write to Hilary Benn, the Environment Secretary, asking him “what exactly is he doing to prevent global warming?”
